Our Savoury Mince Recipe

So, you have all seen on our meal plans that we have a dish regularly called savoury mince. This is my 12 year old's favourite meal and something that has been a staple in our house since I was a child.

I have never seen a recipe that comes close to this, probably the closest dish to compare it with is shepherds pie without the potato on top.

This is a recipe that I have tweaked a fair bit and we are finally happy with how it is now.

So here it is:

1kg beef mince

4 beef stock cubes

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1/4 cup of tomato sauce

2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

3 potatoes, cubed

3 carrots roughly chopped

3 cups frozen peas

2 cups frozen corn

2 cups frozen broccoli

2 cups frozen cauliflower

water

gravy mix

1. Brown and drain mince, and add stock cubes, minced garlic, and both sauces. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

2. Add all veggies and water enough to cover everything in pot and cook the veggies through. Let simmer for 3 hours (definately not a quick meal :). Add 2 - 3 tablespoons of gravy mix to a cup of boiling water and add to the pot. Allow sauce to thicken and serve.

This recipe does make a lot, and we usually have leftovers. So for a smaller family, this would be 2 meals so freeze leftovers for another night!

Organising School Uniforms

Hey Guys! When it comes to storing and sorting the kid's school uniforms, it seems we have FINALLY found what works for us! For those who don't know, we have 4 kiddos and my mum works at the kid's school as well, so her uniforms are also stored with the kid's uniforms. Right next to my desk in the kid's playroom (pretty much only has Lego in it at the moment) we have a clothes rack. The only things that get put on the rack is school uniforms, shoes, the hair box (this keeps all the brushes, hair ties, head bands, etc. together in one place) and school socks. So here is an overview of what the uniform rack looks like and then I will talk about the sections. We'll talk about hanging the uniforms first! Back into Monthly Meal Planning!

Hey guys!!! I am so happy to announce that I am getting back into the swing of things in regards to monthly meal planning! I have implemented a tip I have heard a hundred times over and decided to put certain types of meals on certain days. So Sunday for me is Something New Sunday and I am not making any plans for that, just if we find a recipe we want to try out that month, Sunday is the day to do that. I am also keeping Fridays as Noodle and or pasta because that is what works for my family. Our Fridays have become even more busy now that my daughter has gymnastics on from 3.30 - 5.30pm. Decluttering Challenge Day 3

Hey Everyone! Today's area I spent a little time decluttering is one of the cubes in my homeschool shelf. This cube storage holds all of our homeschool books, puzzles, games and manipulatives and it tends to get cluttered very quickly. In a house full of ADHD, any area with a flat surface gets filled with stuff and this shelf system is no exception. Here is the before photo: As you can see, there is just a bunch of random things in there. Craft things my older kiddo has painted that she no longer wanted, whiteboard cleaner and a ribbon from a gift we got for Christmas. So here is the after shot: Much better! To be honest, I am not even sure I will keep these models and the game as we have not used them for a fair while. And I could use the space to put some things for my nieces when they come over.
