My New Toy!

Hey Everyone!

A couple of months ago, my thermomix started to not work very well (so not happy about this). I talked to the Thermomix Customer Service who said to send it in for a service and to get checked. I use my thermomix all the time, so if I was without one for so many days or weeks, I would definately feel it.
So we talked about it, prayed about it, and decided it was time for a new TM6!

And....

I am still getting used to the new format in the TM6, but so far it has been AMAZING!

As of Sunday night, I have made a couple of things apart from the delicious veggie stock paste the lovely consultant made with me at the time of delivery. As always, the thermomix custard is the easiest and most delicious custard recipe ever, as well as the basic muffin recipe on the guided cooking platform Cookidoo. The muffins were choc chip (having a special needs child in the house, foods can feel repetitive but neccessary at times), and the recipe said it would make 16 muffins, however, I got 23 out of it!

We have a number of recipes to make this week and even a couple of new ones made it to the menu. We are trying 1 or 2 new recipes a week to pull me out of the rut I am currently in when it comes to menu planning and cooking. I will take a few photos of the new recipes I try and share them on here.

Some of our favourite new recipes made in the TM6 include these delicious chocolate chip muesli barschicken and spinach pasta (which was a surprising hit with the WHOLE FAMILY!) and homemade wraps!

I feel so blessed being able to make at least basic foods for my family and show them that not everything they eat has to be from a packet. With all of my daughter's eating issues, we have to make sure she gets as many calories as possible so she can put on weight. Making her favourite snacks (with sneaky fruit, veg and Sustagen powder) is so easy with the Thermomix!

Another benefit of the Thermomix is that I am able to make a larger batch of school snacks and put them in the freezer. I love having a stash of healthy homemade school lunch items ready to go in the freezer. The kiddos choose what they want in their lunches for that day, pull them out of the freezer (we live in a very warm climate so frozen items defrost fairly quickly), chuck them in their lunch boxes and off they go!

What are your favourite Thermomix recipes?

Thanks for reading!

Organising School Uniforms

Hey Guys! When it comes to storing and sorting the kid's school uniforms, it seems we have FINALLY found what works for us! For those who don't know, we have 4 kiddos and my mum works at the kid's school as well, so her uniforms are also stored with the kid's uniforms.  Right next to my desk in the kid's playroom (pretty much only has Lego in it at the moment) we have a clothes rack. The only things that get put on the rack is school uniforms, shoes, the hair box (this keeps all the brushes, hair ties, head bands, etc. together in one place) and school socks.  So here is an overview of what the uniform rack looks like and then I will talk about the sections. We'll talk about hanging the uniforms first! Each person has their own colour coat hanger to make it easier for them to recognise which uniforms are theirs.  BB has pink. Knox has blue. TJ has purple. Liss has white.  Mum has black.  Yes, they are all mixed up at ...

Our Family Morning Routine

So, since this is the very first blog post, I thought we could start with our regular school term morning routine.  Our Morning Routine Our mornings get really busy and tend to go real fast due to the fact that we are a one car family and I have to take my husband to work every day. We are fortunate in that we also live with my mum so I do not have to get all the kids up and bring them with me.  So my day starts at 6am, when my alarm goes off and I keep pressing the snooze button until 6:30am mainly due to the fact that I am NOT a morning person. As soon as I do get up it is time to wake up the babies! First up, my 8 year old son. He usually wakes up pretty easily and I don't have to keep going back to get him out of bed. He is also the one who, when he feels helpful, gets the bowls out for breakfast along with the cereal.  Next is my 7 year old daughter. She can be a little tough to get up some mornings, but generally speaking she gets up within a few minutes of ...

Our Evening Routine

Hey everyone! So last week was our morning routine, this week is our evening routine! I will go from after school pick up because, like our morning routine, our evenings do tend to go fast as well. So after school, they have a small snack like a few Shapes biccies or some yoghurt or cheese depending on whether they had any dairy snacks in their lunch boxes that day. I do try to cook dinner or at least prep it (chop veggies etc.) before I go get the kids from school to make it easier on us during homework time. The kids have a bit of a run around after they eat to burn some energy off before they get their homework out. We have a fairly big backyard so there is plenty of space for them all to play. A favourite game of theirs lately, is Ninja Warrior. So they use things like the trees and the swing set and the trampoline and most important, their imaginations. After they have had about 15 to 20 minutes outside, they come in, have a drink of water and get their homework done. For...
