Day in the life

Hey Everyone!

As a busy mum of 4, I am pretty much on the go all day. So I just thought, maybe, I would share what one day is like for me.

Before I get out of bed in the morning, I like to read one chapter in Proverbs. Proverbs is such a good way of making sure I am reading God's Word daily because it has 31 chapters - a chapter for each day of the month. This way, while I am going through my morning routine, I have something godly running through my brain instead of the chaos of whatever I have on that day.

Next up is coffee... after making sure my teenage son is up and getting ready for the day. I am super lucky because my Mum also lives with us and she gets up a little bit before me and has my coffee ready and waiting for me! While I drink my coffee, the news is generally on in the background.

Because my kids are all older, pretty much all I have to do is make sure they are waking up when they are supposed to. Although, one of my children needs a bit more support in getting ready than everyone else. My son, who is now 17, makes his own lunch though it almost always is snacks only, unless I have some scrolls ready to grab and go. This week was a multiple batch of scrolls week. Waking up my second born takes multiple trips to her room as well as plenty of puppy kisses but finally she makes her way out to the lounge room. This is when I head off to do the school drop off.

After the school drop off is when I put some worship music on while making sure my daughter is getting ready. She had one of her support workers come and take her shopping today so we made sure she had what she needed for that.
We also made sure we had a load of washing on in the machine and got the mornings dishes done. We don't have a working dishwasher at the moment (we are getting a replacement one but it had to be ordered) so I had to do them by hand.

Once the house has had a bit of a tidy and dishes were done, I sat down to do my proper daily Bible reading. I am just following the reading plan in the back of my She Reads Truth bible at the moment and that is working well for me. I use one of my old study bibles and an app called Enduring Word to make notes in my Bible. My favourite pens to use are the Sharpie Pen (the felt tip one rather than the gel pens) and the Sharpie S-note pens as well as the Crayola Erasable pencils for drawing pictures.

While I am doing my Bible reading, Miss B is getting some of her lessons done at the table with me. She mainly starts off with Maths so I can help her when needed but she is smashing through Algebra at the moment and loving it! She goes on to do her English lesson, Science lesson and History lesson. We use Atomi for those and Maths Online for her Maths lessons. They are working pretty well for her at the moment.

By the time homeschool is done, it is time to do the school pick up and then Speech for Miss T. We are so lucky to have her Speech therapy at home, we are able to see what they are working on and follow through a lot easier. Phoenix (our doggo) is also one happy pooch seeing all these people at home!

Next up is making sure dinner is prepped, although today, my hubby is home to cook dinner for us tonight! On the menu is Satay Chicken and Rice, so he gets on to that while I am at Miss B's Gymnastics lesson with her. She also works there but thankfully did not have a shift today but she did have to stay for a little bit after her lesson so they could film some content for social media while there was no chance of having other kids in the video.

After gymnastics, dinner is waiting for us so we have dinner as a family, watch a show and make sure everyone is getting ready for bed, clean the kitchen and go to bed ourselves. Hubby and I watch a show together before going to sleep ourselves and it all starts again the next day!

This is generally how our days go, sometimes there are more therapies and more gymnastics sessions, work drop offs and pick ups, scroll or bread making or just random things to deal with.

Thanks for reading!

Organising School Uniforms

Hey Guys! When it comes to storing and sorting the kid's school uniforms, it seems we have FINALLY found what works for us! For those who don't know, we have 4 kiddos and my mum works at the kid's school as well, so her uniforms are also stored with the kid's uniforms.  Right next to my desk in the kid's playroom (pretty much only has Lego in it at the moment) we have a clothes rack. The only things that get put on the rack is school uniforms, shoes, the hair box (this keeps all the brushes, hair ties, head bands, etc. together in one place) and school socks.  So here is an overview of what the uniform rack looks like and then I will talk about the sections. We'll talk about hanging the uniforms first! Each person has their own colour coat hanger to make it easier for them to recognise which uniforms are theirs.  BB has pink. Knox has blue. TJ has purple. Liss has white.  Mum has black.  Yes, they are all mixed up at ...

Back into Monthly Meal Planning!

Hey guys!!! I am so happy to announce that I am getting back into the swing of things in regards to monthly meal planning! I have implemented a tip I have heard a hundred times over and decided to put certain types of meals on certain days. So Sunday for me is Something New Sunday and I am not making any plans for that, just if we find a recipe we want to try out that month, Sunday is the day to do that. I am also keeping Fridays as Noodle and or pasta because that is what works for my family. Our Fridays have become even more busy now that my daughter has gymnastics on from 3.30 - 5.30pm.  So here is the basic lay out for the week. Something new Sunday Mince Monday Chicken Tuesday Pizza Wednesday Fish Thursday Noodles/Pasta Friday Something Simple Saturday So I will continue to share just the menu plan for a week in order to keep Meal Plan Monday going. So this week (Sunday 5th - Saturday 11th) is: Sunday: Pizza (last minute decision to go to c...

Decluttering Challenge Day 3

Hey Everyone! Today's area I spent a little time decluttering is one of the cubes in my homeschool shelf. This cube storage holds all of our homeschool books, puzzles, games and manipulatives and it tends to get cluttered very quickly. In a house full of ADHD, any area with a flat surface gets filled with stuff and this shelf system is no exception.  Here is the before photo: As you can see, there is just a bunch of random things in there. Craft things my older kiddo has painted that she no longer wanted, whiteboard cleaner and a ribbon from a gift we got for Christmas. So here is the after shot: Much better! To be honest, I am not even sure I will keep these models and the game as we have not used them for a fair while. And I could use the space to put some things for my nieces when they come over. We have a set of markers and colouring books for each of them as well as some puzzles and games. So it might be nice for those things to have a space.  What have you been dec...
